How Often Should You Service Your Tractor?
April 22, 2026Owning a tractor is an investment in your property’s future. Whether you’re running a Mahindra on a cattle ranch in Hondo or a TYM on a small acreage in Taylor, the secret to a machine that lasts 30+ years is consistency.
The Maintenance Milestones
1. The 50-Hour Break-In Service
This is the most critical service. We flush the system to remove microscopic metal shavings created as gears seat for the first time. Skipping this can void your warranty and lead to hydraulic "chirping."
2. Annual or 200-Hour Oil Changes
Even if you don't hit 200 hours in a year, Texas humidity causes condensation in the crankcase. We recommend an engine oil change at least once a year to keep your engine internals corrosion-free.
3. The 500-Hour Major Flush
This is the "deep clean" where transmission and hydraulic fluids are completely replaced. This ensures your loader and 3-point hitch maintain full lifting power.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Can I do the 50-hour service myself?
A: Yes, but keep your receipts! For warranty protection, you must document that OEM filters were used. We sell complete DIY Filter Kits at all our locations.
Q: How often should I grease my loader?
A: Every 8 to 10 hours of operation. If you can see the pins moving dry, you've waited too long!
